Senior Project week 2
For the 2nd week of senior projects, there were many happy, challenging, and funny moments. For my work with Glimmer, I designed a phone case that will (hopefully) be put on the websites shop which is super exciting. While I was making designs for the cases, I found myself constantly feeling challenged and unhappy with the work I was creating, but when I finally landed on a piece that looked good, I was so incredibly happy and satisfied. Grace, my boss, bought two of the phone cases I made and we will get to see how good the quality and resolution is before we decide to fully sell them.
As for my walking, the weather this week was pretty awful and wet. This definitely had me feeling much less motivated to put in the time and effort of walking everyday since it was not very enjoyable. I did not quit though! I took my dogs on two of the lengthy neighborhood walks, and did the other 3 solo. Doing my solo walks absolutely goes by faster since I just listen to music and am able to tune everything else out without the distraction of my dogs. I reduced my time to 1 hour of total walking a day and about 4 hours of work for Glimmer that includes meetings, driving, and work remotely.A small side note, once or twice a week I will be helping my dear friend Hannah Ellis with her senior project on working on a tea farm! It works out quite perfectly for me because the tea work day ends around 2 or 3 which means I then have time to come home and do work for Glimmer, since I have been walking around and working on my hands and knees all morning/afternoon at the farm. Yesterday we pretty much just weeded all day, but honestly it was one of the highlights of my week. The farm is so beautiful, I got to meet some new people, spend time with a friend, listen to music, and be outside doing good work.
My personal goals are: Create work for Glimmer that I will be proud of sharing, be timely with my work deadlines, continue to walk and work rain or shine (or for this week, in the sweltering heat...) and just spend time outdoors. I think I improved on all of those margins compared to my 1st week, especially for Glimmer. I am just much more in the swing of things now and feeling much more confident.
Ayla, that phone case is SO great! It has awesome movement and is playful and inspiring. I hope the quality of the phone case turns out well so that you can start selling them. Good for you for getting outside and walking despite the torrential rains. And I love that you are also going to work at a tea farm! What tea farm is it, and what kind of tea do they sell? I think your mix of tasks has a lovely balance right now -- some computer work and some time outside. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a great balance of things you are working on. I wonder if they are informing each other at all? And good for you for being out in all weathers.
